Extruders for animal feed, aquafeed and pet food
The extruder decides whether the pellet will float or sink, and the Kahl OEE and NG extruder controls that difference through screw speed, the temperature in the double-walled barrel and die adjustment.
The die is hydraulically adjustable: it moves in and out during operation, which prevents blockages, and the knife-to-die clearance is changed through a double articulated joint.
Operation can start with the die open, without increased water addition, so the amount of non-extruded material at start-up is considerably lower than with traditional extruders.
Retention conditioning before extrusion pre-cooks the mash according to the starch properties in the formulation, while the heating and cooling system keeps the temperature under control throughout the process.
The same machine produces pet food and fish feed for trout, salmon, shrimp and fry, as well as flakes, corn flakes and structured animal feed for cattle, pigs and poultry.
Extrusion increases feed digestibility, and the product acquires a shape and density that pelleting cannot achieve.
